Stop motion ad

Google View has triggered controversy in Germany due to its prompting of German privacy code. That is may be one of the reasons that pushed the company to create this very well designed ad, which tends to make you believe you can travel the world with Google at not cost....

At Fred, we have also tried to experience this stop motion technique to present our products and we can tell you that it is anything but easy to achieve a decent result!!!

Economic lesson

The G20 is about to start in Seoul and looks like an Alcoolics Anonymous meeting taking place in a bar... in other words not too much chance to succeed! The small clip below summarizes very well the ins and outs of the currency war between the US and China.

Winter is coming....

Temperatures are getting low, we can see the top of the mountains around Lausanne whitening.... For those of you who would love skiing and wish to discover a unique place in Europe we can only recommend you to pass by La Grave in France. This small village has kept its authentic atmosphere and hosts what is probably considered as the most beautiful panorama in the Alps
The cable car that takes you to the summit is 40 years old (to prevent the area from being overcrowded) and La Meije (a 4000m summit) proudly dominates the valley. Be careful, there is no secured piste on the domaine and the terrain is wild, unpatrolled and unmarked. This place asks for personal responsiblity and we only wish this could be a bit more common...

demonstration slogans

French people are in the street demonstrating against French president social reforms. We are very pleased to notice that a cigarette pack can still be a great source of inspiration for their slogan!

French demonstration slogan

Under this link you will find other slogan captured in the streets of France and... we could also be inspired

New Fred Klaas --- Super Light----

Fred Klaas "pop edition"We are very pround to present you the new Fred Klaas which will be available in Berlin in the coming days. We have hesitated for a very long time whether we should produce a "stronger" variant or a lighter one. Although more people are smoking full flavor cigarettes in Germany we did not feel confident enough to enter this segment already over crowded with lots of brands.
This new Fred Klaas reads 0.5mg nicotin and can be described as a super light cigarette.
In terms of taste, we have made sure that you recognize straight away the original Fred Klaas flavor and we are very happy with this tobacco blend which delivers a very satisfying and gentle smoke.
For the design, we did not give in to the easy option of changing the color of the stripes but we have added a touch of "pop" colors to reinforce the identity of the pack.
As we cannot anymore use descriptors such as "light", "super light" on a pack of cigarette, we all wonder how you are going to name this new product? Fred Klaas "pop"?, Fred Klaas silver?, Fred Klaas pink? Any suggestions?

Anachronism of a "chef d'oeuvre"

blade runnerWe spotted a nice article in "Le Temps" dated September 28th (in French): apparently, on Sunday night, Mr Wolf, the columnist, and myself were both watching Blade Runner, director's cut on TV. The action is set in the post-apocalyptic future (2019) and the script is inspired from the Philip Dick Novel "do androids dream of electric sheep?" written in the 60ies.
Harrison Ford, the lead actor, drifts in the slums of this mega city where bars are overcrowded by dirty people drinking whisky, smoking cigarettes after cigarettes. Not a trace of mobile phone, flat screens or MP3 players....and nobody seems to bother about global warming! If somebody was to shoot a remake of this movie today what would have been the new fears supporting the action?

Philip Dick was right on one thing: one day we will not be able to distinguish man from machine...because we are all robots after all!
